Slideshow (97 pages) updated: Sept. 10, 2003 | The stories of Kew Gardens and Richmond Hill are bound together.
Conceived as planned communities by an innovative developer named Albon Platt Man, these areas thrived with the country feel of beautiful trees, landscaping, and carefully laid out streets and sidewalks - a haven close to the city. Much has changed, but much remains. Here is a chance to view antique photographs and vintage picture postcards of Richmond Hill, many from the turn of the century, and to compare them with present day photographs taken in 2003. The community "sense of place" remains, and the future is promising as down-zoning of this area becomes a reality, and the protection of these treasures continues.
