A Slideshow of Victorian Richmond Hill
to Joseph DeMay, Jr. for his enormous contribution in creating this
fascinating slideshow of images that show many locations of early Richmond
Hill from the turn of the 19th century along side its corresponding
present day image from 2003.
Like a true detective, Mr. DeMay painstakingly researched and documented
many of the images from early postcards and photographs of Richmond
Hill and located where they exist today in Richmond Hill.
an early photograph showed only a dirt road with an unfamiliar street
name and a single home on it, but due to his keen eye for detail, many
of these obscure postcards and photographs have been brought back to
life once again by enlightening us with a sense of how Richmond Hill,
once a small town with dirt roads, grew into an urban development. And
what truly is remarkable, many of these homes and locations still exist
As you view these images, perhaps you will come to realize that many
of the streets still hold precious pieces of our past but were unaware
due to the years of development or over development of our community.
Much credit is also due to authors Carl Ballenas, Nancy Cataldi and
the Richmond Hill Historical Society for the book "Images of America
- Richmond Hill".
But once again, thanks to Joseph DeMay, Jr. who has helped us to put
it all in perspective!

it available again soon.
