During the month of May 2001, a movie was filmed at the RKO Keith's Bingo Hall called "The Guru" with Heather Graham, Marisa Tomei and Jimmy Mistry. The film crew transformed the upstairs of the theater into an apartment and filmed interiors there, looking out the windows over the marquee with the J Train in the background... also shots were done on the street which they tranformed into "little India"... the director wanted to take a piece of the aluminum siding off and see if they could use the original marquee, and after the first piece was taken off by the crew... you could see that it was all there... chipped paint, some broken lightbulbs, but beautifully preserved... the film crew used some lettering on it for the movie of some Indian film, but after they left, Bob Wooldridge, the owner, had it scraped and painted, got new lettering and is now on display in its original splendor!
